If you’re looking to escape LA and enjoy a well-deserved break on the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, then you can find great deals with Orbitz. Search with us to find a huge choice of cheap flights from LA to Honolulu.
The most popular route from LA to Hawaii flies from LAX to Honolulu airport. There are more than 100 flights each day from LA’s biggest airport to the Hawaiian capital, with five different airlines offering direct services.
The flight time from LA to Honolulu is approximately five hours and 45 minutes and covers a distance of 2,553 miles.
While Hawaii is southwest of mainland US, the curve of California’s coastline means it is closer to the northern part of the state.
As hard as it will be to leave the islands, the return trip from Hawaii to the US will be shorter than the first leg of your journey. This is because the fast-moving jet stream blows from west to east, so planes moving in the same direction are able to travel faster.
Los Angeles International, LAX, is located in the Westchester district of Los Angeles, around 18 miles to the southwest of Downtown. It covers a site of 3,500 acres and is noted for its four parallel runways. It is second only to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson as the busiest in the country and serves as a hub or focus city for more airlines than any other US airport.
Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is named after the US Senator and medal of Honor recipient Daniel K. Inouye, who represented Hawaii from 1963 until he died in 2012.
The airport is located three miles to the northwest of the center of the city and is accessed by the Nimitz Highway and Queen Liliuokalani Freeway.
Daniel K. Inouye International is the principal airport serving the islands and is a hub for Hawaiian Airlines. It is also a host to major US airlines and offers flights to destinations around North America, Asia and the Pacific Rim.
The airport was opened in 1927 and originally named after First World War naval officer John Rodgers. Since 2006 it has undergone a $1.7 billion modernization program to improve passenger service, security and operational efficiency.
Within both LAX and Honolulu airports there are places where you can eat, drink and relax before your flight. Many of the airlines don’t offer complimentary food and drink services so it is a good idea to fill up and hydrate before you travel, although you can also buy food and drinks on most flights.
With more than 100 flights a day direct from LA to Honolulu, it’s easy to find carriers that suit your requirements.
