Find low cost flights to St. Thomas on Orbitz and visit the US Virgin Islands. Here you will enjoy everything from island hopping to just lounging on the beach.
Flights to St. Thomas will land at one of the two major airports of the Virgin Islands: the Cyril E. King Airport. Both non-stop and connecting flights from the US mainland land here, as well as local inter-island flights. The Cyril E. King Airport runs 24 hours a day, but the terminals are only open between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Major airlines offering service to St. Thomas are: American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways. Only American and US Airways offer non-stop St. Thomas flights. Inter-island carriers fly to and from Puerto Rico and neighboring Caribbean islands and within the Virgin Islands themselves, often offering a novel seaplane service! Travel between St. Thomas and St. Croix takes only minutes.
St. Thomas is a tropical Caribbean paradise; however, that means that it does get quite hot during the summer months. Because of this, prime visiting seasons are fall and winter, which happen to coincide with the major school holidays. If you want to escape small children and crowds, you may want to find your bargain St. Thomas flights during the summer months! During the summer, stay near the water to be cooled by ocean breezes. Further inland the temperatures rise quickly while the area's lush vegetation dries out because of the heat.
In general, the island of St. Thomas is too big and too hilly to explore on foot, although specific areas such as towns and resort areas are ideal for pedestrians. From the time your flights to St. Thomas land, you can get around the island by bus or private tour, or you can rent a car and explore on your own (keep in mind, however, that traffic drives on the left). Private tours may be arranged with most taxi drivers, who will be happy to show you places the tour buses don't go. Drivers will also know how to time things to avoid crowds. You can also easily rent a car, but be aware that aggressive local drivers speed around turns and honk to say "hello" and "thank you."
When your flights to St. Thomas land, you can be off exploring the Virgin Islands almost as soon as you touch down! However visitors from St. Thomas flights choose to get around, there are a lot of things to see and do, including:
